Late February Snowstorm Update One

Snowfall warning for
Queens County P.E.I. continued

Up to 20 cm of snow is possible by midday Saturday.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system is expected to develop over the New England area this evening and track across New Brunswick on Saturday.

Snow is expected to begin after midnight tonight and become heavy at times Saturday morning with local blowing snow before changing to rain showers by noon. Snowfall amounts of up to 20 cm are expected.

Yarmouth County continued

Southwest winds will gust up to 100 km/h along parts of the coast beginning Saturday morning.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system is expected to develop over the New England area this evening and track across New Brunswick on Saturday. Southeasterly winds will develop ahead of the low with Les Suetes winds gusting up to 120 km/h Saturday morning and persist until the afternoon when winds will diminish and veer to the southwest. Along the southern shore, southwest winds will gust up to 100 km/h along parts of the coast beginning Saturday morning. Winds will ease early Saturday evening as the low moves away.

Over Northern Nova Scotia, heavy snow will begin near midnight and changeover to ice pellets and freezing rain before dawn. Total snow and ice pellet amounts of 15 cm are expected.

Currently we expect there to be a 2 to 3 hour period of ice pellets or freezing rain over most of the province, but there remains a possibility that we could see a longer period of freezing rain than anticipated. The public are advised to check for updated forecasts or warnings as we will continue to monitor conditions throughout the night as they unfold.

Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass issued

Snowfall amounts of 15 cm are expected overnight and into Saturday morning.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system is expected to develop over the New England area this evening and track across New Brunswick on Saturday. Southeasterly winds will develop ahead of the low with Les Suetes winds gusting up to 120 km/h Saturday morning and persist until the afternoon when winds will diminish and veer to the southwest.
