Freezing rain warning for

Halifax County - east of Porters Lake continued



Freezing rain is expected tonight and Wednesday.



This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.



A warm front will approach the Maritimes today to lie south of Nova Scotia by tonight. Periods of rain are expected for much of tonight and Wednesday over southwest regions of mainland Nova Scotia. Central regions..Including Halifax Metro..Should see the precipitation start as rain or ice pellets this evening before changing to freezing rain away from the coast but likely persisting as rain near the coast. Northeast regions of mainland Nova Scotia will see snow or ice pellets developing this evening before changing to periods of freezing rain or ice pellets. On Wednesday periods of rain will persist over southern regions. Periods of freezing rain should change to rain Wednesday morning over northwest regions of mainland Nova Scotia but should persist as occasional freezing rain for much of the day over northeastern parts of mainland Nova Scotia. Over Southern Cape Breton snow and ice pellets are expected to begin tonight then change to a mixture of freezing rain and ice pellets near noon Wednesday and persist throughout the day.
