A MOIST TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE BROUGHT RAIN AND STRONG WINDS TO THE
REGION LAST NIGHT AND TODAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF UP TO 50 MM WERE
RECORDED AND WIND GUSTS TO NEAR 90 KM/H WERE MEASURED AT MANY
STATIONS. WINDS REACHED A PEAK OF 116 KM/H AT GRAND ETANG IN THE LEE
OF THE HIGHLANDS.
