Lunenburg County
9:28 PM AST Thursday 20 December 2012
Rainfall warning for
Lunenburg County continued

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected for Friday night in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A developing low pressure system will approach from New England tonight and Friday. Rain ahead of the system is expected to begin late Friday afternoon over extreme Southwest Nova Scotia before spreading to Northeast Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island by late Friday evening. The rain will be heavy at times Friday night with total rainfall amounts near 30 millimetres expected along the Atlantic coast from Yarmouth County to Lunenburg County inclusive. Lesser rainfall amounts are expected elsewhere Friday night however additional rainfall warnings may become required as the rain spreads to Eastern Nova Scotia on Saturday.

It should also be noted that a brief period of snow is possible for the Cobequid Pass area of Cumberland County late Friday evening before a changeover to rain near midnight.

The low pressure system will also bring strengthening southeast winds over the Maritimes Friday night. Over Cape Breton southeast winds..Les Suetes..are expected to gust to near 100 km/h late Friday night or more specifically towards dawn Saturday.
