Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick

Freezing rain warning for
Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick issued

An extended period of freezing rain is forecast over portions of these regions on Wednesday.

This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A developing low pressure system approaching from the southwest tonight will track into Southern New Brunswick on Wednesday. The low will then move slowly northeastward across the province.

Snow will spread across Central and Northern New Brunswick from west to east beginning early Wednesday morning in the west. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected over most areas of Central and Northern New Brunswick, with the exception being parts of the northwest where amounts are expected to be less. Over the Acadian Peninsula, strong winds will give very poor visibility in blowing snow Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Over Southern New Brunswick, a mix of snow, rain and freezing rain is expected. Over southeastern sections of the province, a prolonged period of freezing rain is expected on Wednesday for many areas.

Prince County P.E.I. issued

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in this region. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system approaching the Maritimes from the southwest will move across Southern New Brunswick Wednesday evening. Precipitation ahead of this system will begin as a mixture of freezing rain and snow late Wednesday morning. By afternoon the precipation will change to snow over Prince County and to a mixture of rain and snow elsewhere. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected over Prince County with lesser amounts elsewhere.

Hants County

This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system approaching the Maritimes from the southwest will move across Southern New Brunswick Wednesday evening. Precipitation ahead of this system will begin as a brief period of freezing rain over southern regions of Mainland Nova Scotia before changing to rain towards morning. Over central regions the freezing rain should be slightly more persistent early Wednesday morning before the changeover to rain. Over northeast regions of Mainland Nova Scotia as well as Cape Breton a mixture of snow and freezing rain is expected to begin in the afternoon before changing to a mixture of rain and snow later in the afternoon.

Also over Northern Inverness County Les Suetes winds will develop late Wednesday afternoon with gusts near 110 km/h are expected from Margaree Harbour to Bay St Lawrence.
