---------------------------------------------------------------------
Special weather statement for:
      Mainland Nova Scotia
      Cape Breton.

Messy weather is expected Friday night and overnight into Saturday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
==discussion==
A low pressure system will form on Friday near the Carolinas and pass
south of Nova Scotia during the day Saturday. Ahead of the low snow
and ice pellets are forecast to begin over southwestern regions of
the province Friday afternoon and will push northward Friday night to
affect the rest of Nova Scotia by Saturday morning. A few hours of
freezing rain is expected to be mixed with the ice pellets after
midnight Friday night for southwestern sections. The extent of this
freezing rain will depend on the track of the low.

As the low nears the province warmer air will cause the precipitation
to change to rain over western regions. The exception would be
eastern regions including Cape Breton where the precipitation is most
likely to stay as snow or ice pellets into the afternoon on Saturday.

At this time snowfall amounts up to 15 centimetres are possible but
amounts are still uncertain.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as
warnings may be required or extended.
