Older adults, infants, young children and people with chronic medical

risk.

The New Brunswick Department of Health recommends the following
precautions and actions:

- drink plenty of cool fluids, especially water before feeling
thirsty.

- wear lightweight, loose-fitting and light colored clothing.

- avoid exposure to the sun.

- if you can, reschedule strenuous activities to a cooler period.

- spend a few hours in a cool place or in an air-conditioned location
(mall, library, place of worship or grocery store).

- check with your pharmacist, nurse or doctor if your medication
increases your health risk in the heat and follow their
recommendations.

- frequently visit a vulnerable family member or neighbour to make
sure he or she is okay.

- take cool showers or baths until refreshed.

- use your air conditioner if you have one.

- organizers of sport and recreational activities should consider
rescheduling them.

- seek medical attention if you experience symptoms that are out of
the ordinary: heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, faintness,

A hot and humid air mass will prevail over the Maritimes again today.
Humidex values of around 40 are expected across parts of the
province. Similar conditions are expected on Sunday.

Further details follow in the next regular public forecast.

The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness advises the
following:

Stay in shaded or air conditioned areas as much as possible, drink
plenty of water, wear light clothing and take breaks often if you are
exercising or working outdoors. Consideration should be given to
postpone strenuous exercise or work until a cooler time of the day.
Organizers of sport and recreational activities should build in
regular water breaks and consider rescheduling activities. The
elderly, babies and young children, or people with heart or lung
problems are most at risk of serious heat-related illness. People
taking medications, especially for mental health conditions, should
check with their doctor or pharmacist to see if they are more at risk
from high temperatures.

Wellness website WWW.GOV.NS.CA/HPP/ENVIRONMENTAL/HEAT.ASP.
