AREA OF HEAVY RAIN FALLING FROM CENTRAL NEW HAMPSHIRE NORTHEAST INTO
WESTERN MAINE. OBSERVATIONS SHOW THAT 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS
ALREADY FALLEN. ANOTHER 1 OR 2 INCHES IS POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT 3
HOURS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST
FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
WATER COVERED BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS. NEVER TRY TO
CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CARIBOU HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND DOWNEAST
  MAINE...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...PENOBSCOT...CENTRAL AND
  SOUTHERN PISCATAQUIS...SOUTHEAST AROOSTOOK...HANCOCK...AND
  WASHINGTON COUNTIES.

* FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING

* A WARM FRONT WILL LIFT ACROSS THE AREA TODAY AND THEN MOVE
  NORTHEAST BY THIS EVENING. RAIN WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA TODAY
  BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SCATTERED SHOWERS TONIGHT. THE RAIN WILL
  BE STEADIEST ACROSS CENTRAL AND DOWNEAST PORTIONS OF THE STATE,
  WHERE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE. RAINFALL RATES IN
  EXCESS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

* FLOODING OF STREAMS AND CREEKS...LOW LYING AREAS...AND AREAS OF
  POOR DRAINAGE IS POSSIBLE.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
