Early March Southern Maritimes Nor'Easter Update One

10:53 AM AST Friday 04 March 2016
Winter storm warning in effect for:
  • Halifax County - east of Porters Lake
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Total snowfall amounts of up to 30 cm are possible Saturday. A low pressure system east of the Carolinas this morning will intensify as it tracks northeastward to pass south of Nova Scotia on Saturday. Snow at times heavy will develop early Saturday morning and persist through the day on Saturday. Strengthening northeast winds will also result in blowing snow.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NSStorm.
