...Winter 2016-2017 Update...

Meteorological winter is the 3 month period from December through
February.

During the first half of the winter (December 1st through January
15th), the average temperature at Caribou of 15.8 degrees exactly
equaled the 30-year average temperature (1981-2010 averages).
There was a total of 51.4 inches of snow, which was 16.1 inches
above average. It was the snowiest first half of winter since the
winter of 2007-2008.

At Bangor, the average temperature so far this winter of 21.8
degrees was 1.3 degrees below average. A total of 21.3 inches of
snow was observed, which was just one tenth of an inch (0.1")
below average.

From December 1st through january 15th there were 15 nights with
a low below zero at Caribou, which was 2 above average. At
Bangor, there were 8 nights with a low below zero, which was 2
above average.
